Medior / Senior Data Engineer – Asset Data Models & Structures

Role

As a Data Engineer in the Asset Data Models and Structure team you will formalise and implement compliance between the Ontology (OTL) and the Common Information Model (CIM) based on IEC 61970 and IEC 61968, and enhance end-to-end data lineage across OTL, asset repositories and data exchange processes including ERP and GIS platforms.

Responsibilities

  • OTL–CIM compliance: Define, formalise and document clear compliance rules by interpreting IEC standards into verifiable and actionable data requirements.
  • Compliance framework: Develop and implement a structured, testable framework to evaluate OTL conformity and generate measurable compliance reports.
  • Data lineage: Establish, document and enhance end-to-end data lineage between OTL (specification layer), CIM models, ERP, GIS and related data exchange processes, identifying transformation points and integration gaps.
  • Enterprise integration: Expand OTL compliance requirements to enterprise systems and information models (e.g., SAP, ArcGIS, EU 30x), ensuring structural consistency and traceability.
  • Knowledge & governance: Document processes, support internal capability development and foster sustainable ownership of OTL and lineage practices.

Profile

  • Education: HBO working and thinking level with a relevant degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or comparable qualification.
  • Experience: Proven experience in data engineering, preferably in the utilities or energy sector.
  • Technical skills: Experience in data modelling and data integration with ERP (e.g., SAP PPM – S4/Hana) and GIS (e.g., ArcGIS); hands-on experience implementing standard-based data structures such as IEC CIM (61970/61968).
  • Development skills: Professional programming and ETL skills to handle complex data transformation and integration projects.
  • Personal qualities: Independent, initiative-taking, team-oriented, strong communication skills and very good English.

Eisen

  • This position requires an HBO working and thinking level and a relevant
    degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a comparable
    qualification
  • You have profound working experience in data engineering, preferably in the
    utilities or energy sector
  • You have sound experience in data modeling, data integration with ERP
    (e.g. SAP PPM – S4/Hana) and GIS (e.g. ArcGIS), and implementing
    standard-based data structures such as IEC CIM (61970/61968)
  • You have professional programming and ETL skills and ensure TenneT's
    interests even in complex data transformation and integration projects
  • At entry, TenneT performs a Pre-Employment Screening
  • Duty station for this position is Arnhem (apprx. 3 days a week, Tuesday and
    Thursday are obligated days)
  • TenneT would like to receive the CV's in English
  • Pre-employment screening: If the candidate is selected to start, a
    pre-employment screening will be executed
  • Your candidate is only allowed to start after the pre-employment screening
    has been completed successfully
  • All submitted candidates must be in possession of a valid Passport or ID
    card, which must be taken along to the interview and at the start of the
    assignment
  • The candidate has to be available throughout the entire duration of the
    assignment

Wensen

  • U heeft bij voorkeur ervaring met datamodellering, data-integratie met ERP
    (bijv. SAP PPM – S4/Hana) en GIS (bijv. ArcGIS), en het implementeren van
    standaardgebaseerde datastructuren zoals IEC CIM (61970/61968)
